Utah continues to be one of the few safe states left for the Republicans to grasp this year. Though even here there have been some impressive Democratic gains since 2004. In 2004 Bush won by 46 percent of the vote. In 2000, Bush won by 41%.
Obama managed to improve on their scores by double digits. Obama eventually only lost Utah by just under 30 percentage points. If history shows as a model though, I would expect that after an enthusiastic candidate like Obama has almost no chance in the near future, of coming even in single digits here.
